About The Malkai

A new vision for Omani hospitality, The Malkai is the culmination of a dream passed down through generations — guided by one family's love of the land and its people.

A timeless bond with Oman.

The story of The Malkai is woven into the fabric of Oman — a narrative that began in 1870, when the Khimji family first set foot on these shores. For generations, a deep love for the land and its heritage — and a wish to share its beauty with the world — have shaped the family’s vision. This enduring connection has culminated in The Malkai: an unparalleled pilgrimage, offering an immersive journey through the Sultanate’s culture, history, and remarkable natural beauty.

Generations of dedication.

The Malkai is the realisation of a long-held family vision, led by H.E. Pankaj Khimji — a prominent figure in Omani business, public life, and hospitality. He brings decades of leadership across commerce, diplomacy, and luxury travel. His collaboration with Adrian Zecha on The Chedi Muscat affirmed the family’s commitment to exceptional service and cultural authenticity. Today, he remains dedicated to empowering young Omanis and contributing to the nation’s future.

The Malkai is a collaborative effort. Kairavi Khimji brings expertise in urban planning and global partnerships. Malvika Khimji leads operations. Varun Khimji contributes to national policy and Malkai initiatives. Alka Khimji, who also played a key role in shaping The Chedi Muscat, exemplifies the family’s enduring focus on excellence and cultural insight.
